Korean War Service Medal - Message from Embassy of the Republic of Korea

I am writing to you in the hope that you might be made aware of an effort being made by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to identify Irish Veterans of the Korean War that might be interested in receiving a Korean War Service Medal issued by the Korean War Veterans Association.

Although not issued by the Government of the Republic of Korea, the Embassy hopes that the medal could be recognition for the most valuable contribution and the sacrifices of the Irish veterans of the Korean War.

On receipt of the medals from the Korean War Veterans Association, the Embassy will endeavour to issue the medals to veterans in a timely manner and where possible in person by the Ambassador or a representative of the Embassy.

The Embassy would be very grateful if you could bring this message to the attention of veterans that might be interested in receiving this recognition from the Korean War Veterans Association.

Veterans (or their next of kin) interested in applying for the medal are asked to fill in the attached application form and return it to the Embassy of Korea in Dublin before the 31st January 2010.
