Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann Teoranta is the official name of the Organisation of National Ex-Servicemen and Women (O.N.E.). ONET is a limited company with charitable status that is dedicated to looking after the welfare of ex-service personnel of the Irish Defence Services.

It is recognised by the Minister of Defence and the Military Authorities in Ireland as the official representative of such personnel. Its Patron is Mrs Mary McAleese, President of Ireland.

ONET was formerly known, as ONE and this abbreviation will continue to be used by the limited company to promote its aims and objectives.

The main objective of ONE is to ensure the welfare of ex-servicemen and women by way of providing accommodation to homeless, elderly or disabled members in need of such domestic accommodation and shelter and other assistance that may be required. We also promote social cultural and sporting activities in order to develop a spirit of comradeship between serving and retired members of the services, as well as provision of information in the area of pensions, social welfare benefits and other entitlements.

Membership of the company is open to any person who has served in the Permanent Defence Force, the Reserve Defence Force, Irish Red Cross, or Civil Defence providing such person has had at least one-years satisfactory service and has been honourably discharged. To become a member of the company a person must be accepted as a member of a branch and must sign a written declaration of acceptance of the Memorandum of Association & Articles of Association and the Handbook of Rules.

The registered office of Oglaigh Naisiunta na hEireann Teoranta and national headquarters is located in Brú Na bhFiann, Smithfield Market, North King Street, Dublin 7. The company is registered with the Revenue Commissioners as a charity; No. 328824 CHY 13868. ONET has four area councils broadly in line with the four provinces of Ulster, Munster, Leinster and Connacht. Each of these area councils meets on a regular basis and each has a list of branches in its area. Your subscriptions will assist the company in expanding its charitable operations for retired members of the Irish Services and will enable us to establish new modern homes for our comrades. Our good work is only possible through your generosity.

ONET also publishes the ONECONNECT magazine for its members and this is available to every member of the organisation. There is also an online version of the magazine, which can be viewed by any visitor or member and we encourage active involvement with the company on an ongoing basis through participation in branch activities, communications with our headquarters or involvement by means of donations of time or funding.
