Annual General Meeting. The Annual General meeting of the Company is held in June of each year. The Annual Convention also takes place over this weekend. At the Convention delegates from branches around the country meet and set out policies for the company for the forthcoming year
Directors. The AGM decides the number of Directors however the ultimate figure, based on the Flynn O'Shea report will be fifteen following restructuring. There cannot be less than three and not more than twenty directors. The Directors are appointed to office and may be removed from office by the Company at the AGM. The Directors act as agents on behalf of the members of the Company and also stand in a fiduciary relationship to the Company's members. They owe the company members a duty to act in good faith in the interests of the Company as a whole.
Area Councils Area Councils are set up in areas as defined by the Executive Committee as necessary. They mainly conform to the four Province in Ireland, Ulster Munster, Leinster and Connacht. Their responsibility is to advise and encourage the Branches in their area and to carry out instructions issued by the AGM of the Company and/or the Executive Committee of the Company.
Branches The Branches are the backbone of the Company. They are established, as required, at the discretion of the Executive Committee. See branches
Members To become a member of the Company a person must be accepted as a member of a Branch and must sign a written declaration of acceptance of the Handbook of Rules.
