The Organisation of National Ex-Service Men and Women (ONET) is a limited company with charitable status, which is dedicated to the welfare of ex-service men and women.
ONET provides accommodation to homeless, elderly or disabled members in need of such domestic accommodation and shelter and other assistance that may be required. At present ONET owns and supports three fully operational homes in Dublin, Letterkenny and Athlone through your generous support.
The active support of the Defence Forces through donations from serving Defence Force Personnel is necessary to provide shelter to homeless ex-servicemen and women and your donation will be used wholly and exclusively for this purpose. The first home, Brú Na bhFiann was built in 1993 and opened its doors for homeless members of the Defence Forces in 1994 and catered for up to 20 people.
However due to the urban renewal scheme that took place around the Smithfield Market area Brú na bhFiann has now been relocated to our new address at Smithfield Market, North King Street, Dublin 7, which also offers some transit accommodation to serving members of the Defence Forces, their families and friends.
The new Brú na bhFiann was completed in June 2005 and is close to all of Dublin's amenites and is only a minute's walk from the LUAS line which links Hueston and Connolly Stations and has a total capacity of forty bedrooms.
ONET's second Home is located in Letterkenny and houses up to seven people. The Athlone home came onstream in August 2006 through the hard work of the local ONET committee. Please remember that without your donations none of this would be possible.
Every donation will help to ensure the growth of ONET's efforts in finding suitable accommodation for homeless members of the Defence Forces. Your donation is purely voluntary and may be cancelled by you at any time by simply contacting ONET at the National HQ address in Dublin (listed below). Your continued support of ONET will enhance the lives of homeless Ex-Defence Forces members.
Through your active participation by donating a small regular sum to ONET you will assist us in the provision of sheltered accommodation to homeless men and women of the Defence Forces who have given their lives in service and who now need your support.
If you have any queries in respect of funding for ONET projects or on any issue pertaining to accommodation for retired members of the Defence Forces please do not hesitate to contact ONET at its registered offices:
