The new Criminal Courts of Justice Complex is due to open in Dublin’s
Parkgate Streetin the Autumn.We are seeking to appoint a Jury Minding Manager, on a permanent contract, to schedule and lead a team of up to 20 full and part time Jury Minders whose role it is to take responsibility for a jury throughout the time that they are in attendance at the Courts.The will guide the Jury to the appropriate courtroom, and ensure the welfare and seucirty of the jury members while in the course of their jury duties.
Main Purpose of Role:
To provide an efficient team of trained Jury Minders sufficient to meet the needs fo the Courts Service for any courts that require a jury and to ensure that the service is flexible with changes to hours and other services required.There will be a maximum 16 Jury courts at any one time.
Responsibilities
¨Recruit, train and maintain a team of Jury Minders as required by the Amber infrastructure contract with the Court Services of Ireland.
¨To plan a staff schedule that will meet the programme of jury courts provided, and adapt and vary the service as required during the legal term.
¨Ensure that all Jury Minders are recruited and selected strictly in accordance with the agreed criteria, and are security checked before employment is confirmed, that this vetting is updated and behavioural code monitored regularly.
¨Devise a training programme for Jury Minders to meet H&S requirements and with contingency plans for fire evacuation and security issues.
¨Impart an in-depth understanding of the workings of the Courts in Ireland and the responsibilities and importance of the role of a Jury Minder.
¨ Plan and prepare for additional requirements for Jury Minders to meet any variations of service e.g. for support of disabled jurors.
¨Provide daily briefings to the Jury Minding team as requirements change and ensure that other parts of the wider team are kept informed of changes e.g. for room bookings, catering requirements.
¨Set out a code of standards for appearance and behaviour in a team that will be highly visible and must support Jurors from all backgrounds.
¨Establish and agree KPIs for reporting and monitoring service standards
¨Manage the performance and conduct within the team.
Person Specification:
¨Able to communicate information effectively at all levels.
¨Someone who is able to prioritise, plan and manage his/her own time in accordance with assigned workloads and to work out the ramifications of changes, possibly at very short notice.
¨Good all-round people skills with the ability to adapt those skill sets within an active environment and deal with conflicting demands.
¨Good administrative and organisational skills.
¨Diplomacy and patience.
¨Management and rostering experience would be an advantage
